چکیده
This paper describes an experimental investigation into the properties of ambient cured one-part alkali-activated materials (AAMs). Mixes incorporating waste glass (WG), ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS), fly ash (FA), and sodium metasilicate pentahydrate were assessed in terms workability, water absorption, physical mechanical properties, environmental impact. Microstructure investigations on selected mixes also carried out. The GGBS-only had low workability high early strength that declined over time, whereas FA-only virtually no strength. Equal proportions WG GGBS provided similar fresh to those yet comparatively higher strengths a positive time gradient. 50% GGBS, 25% FA, best balance between with compressive above 40 MPa suitable for structural applications. An increase activator content from 14% 21% enhanced by 39.1%–54.6%. flexural largely proportional strengths, absorption like cement mortars, dry densities depended constituent binders. Finally, AAM 53% 72% less embodied carbon compared corresponding mortar.

Acid-Alkali Resistance of New Reclaimed Tiles Containing Sewage Sludge Ash and Waste Glass
In this study, properties of newly developed reclaimed tiles in a harmful environment were investigated. A portion of clay used to manufacture tiles was replaced with sewage sludge ash (SSA) and waste glass to produce the new reclaimed tiles. To investigate the effects of SSA and waste glass on the properties of the tiles, different specimens were blended and placed in acid-alkali solutions. Th...
متن کاملALKALI Activated FLY-ASH Based Geopolymer Concrete
Considering the increasing demand for developing alternative construction materials, due to the growing environmental concerns, this paper discusses the feasibility of alkali activated geo-polymer concrete, as a future construction material. The main objective of this study involves observation of structural behaviours of the fresh fly ash-based geo-polymer concrete, understanding the basic mix...
متن کاملThe Interfacial Transition Zone in Alkali-Activated Slag Mortars
The interfacial transition zone (ITZ) is known to strongly influence the mechanical and transport properties of mortars and concretes. This paper studies the ITZ between siliceous (quartz) aggregates and alkali-activated slag (AAS) binders in the context of mortar specimens. Backscattered electron (BSE) images generated in an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) are used to identif...
